William H. Davis, MD, FACS

William H. Davis, MD, FACS, is a highly skilled and compassionate vascular surgeon at Douglas Vascular Center in Douglas, Georgia. His goal is to protect the health of his patients’ arteries and veins with the most state-of-the-art technology possible while simultaneously providing individualized attention and care.

Dr. Davis graduated from Coffee High School in Douglas, Georgia. Dr. Davis received his bachelor’s degree from Davidson College, in Davidson, North Carolina, in 1978. He went on to earn his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, in 1982, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed a categorical surgical internship and a general surgery residency at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, Georgia.

In 2000, Dr. Davis completed a certified endovascular fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. As both a Registered Vascular Technologist® (RVT®) and Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation® (RPVI®), Dr. Davis is an expert in using ultrasound technology and imaging to diagnose and treat vascular disease. He’s certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Before founding Douglas Vascular Center in 2012, Dr. Davis served as a general surgeon at Noble Army Community Hospital at Fort McClellan, Alabama (1987-1991) and then for the 475th MASH in Saudi Arabia and Iraq (1991) during Desert Storm. He practiced General and Vascular Surgery at Tift Regional Medical Center since 1991 and is currently affiliated with both Tift Regional in Tifton, Georgia, and Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Georgia. Dr. Davis is a member of the Georgia Vascular Society and is a contributor to the Georgia Vascular Foundation. Coffee County Magazine, a local publication in Douglas, Georgia, profiled Dr. Davis and his work at Douglas Vascular Center, chronicling his career as an expert vascular surgeon.

In addition to educating his patients and the general public about the importance of vascular health, Dr. Davis continually increases his own knowledge and expertise. He’s proud to offer the most up-to-date, minimally invasive treatments that improve arterial and venous health at Douglas Vascular Center.

Makenzie Smith

Makenzie Smith is a registered cardiovascular sonographer with years of experience in echocardiograms and diagnostic vascular studies. She grew up in Douglas, Georgia and graduated from Coffee High School as a honor graduate in 2013. Shortly after, she attended Darton State College where she obtained her cardiovascular technology degree. She graduated top of her class with summa cum laude in 2016. Her cardiac and vascular clinical experience was obtained at John D. Archbold Memorial hospital and Tift Regional Medical Center. Immediately after completing her clinical rotations she became an employee of Tift Regional Medical Center where she performed echocardiograms and vascular studies until 2018.

In 2018, she then became a part of Douglas Vascular Center where she now specializes in the following vascular studies: peripheral arterial, peripheral venous reflux/DVT, carotid duplex, Hemodialysis Access Evaluation and aorta/iliac artery and vein scans. She takes pride in what she does and loves being able to contribute to patient care. Makenzie critiques her scans each and every day to help with diagnosing a patient. Her role at Douglas Vascular Center is to provide images showing where the disease may be and to what severity. She is a very outgoing person and looks forward to meeting new patients. Aside from working, Makenzie enjoys spending her free time with her daughter.
